The Before and After Care (BAC) program is in a separate classroom and is open daily for use by MCHS children needing additional care before or after classroom time. BAC is open from 7:30 am - 8:15 am and then again from 11:45 am until 6:00 pm. Younger children eat lunch in BAC, and then take a nap or have quiet time. The balance of the day is spent outdoors in group play and working in the room with a variety of materials. To provide consistancy, the BAC program is founded on the same philosophy as the Montessori classrooms.
After School Enrichment Programs are offered after class from 2:30 – 3:30 pm and from 3:30 – 4:30 pm These classes are elective, and involve an additional fee. Classes which have been have offered in the past include Spanish, visual arts, music and cooking.
Although the Montessori classrooms close for the summer, BAC remains open from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm and operates in tandem with a summer artisan program. Each summer, MCHS offers many different two or one week classes. Previous offerings have included soccer, theater, cooking, Spanish, visual arts, yoga, country western dance, and carpentry. These classes are taught by visiting teachers. The summer program is only open to students who have attend MCHS during the regular school year. The regular hours of operation of 7:30 am - 6:00 pm are maintained throughout the summer.
