ADMISSION INFORMATION
Montessori Children’s House and School is open to children ages 3 to 6 years, and it is designed to include the kindergarten year. Younger children (ages 3 to approximately 4 ½ years) attend from 8:15 a.m. -11:45 a.m. Older children (ages approximately 4 ½ to 6 years) attend from 8:15 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., with the classroom guide making the determination of whether the child shows readiness to enter the extended day program.
We also provide a Before and After Care (BAC) program that is available from 7:30 – 8:15 a.m. and from 11:45 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The first step in the application process is to schedule a visit to MCHS, tour the school, and meet with the school’s director to discuss Montessori educational philosophy and ask questions. Additionally, prospective parents may schedule an in-class, thirty-minute observation.
The second step is to submit an application for enrollment. Applications are accepted throughout the year. (Preferably they should be submitted no later than January for the upcoming school year and letters of acceptance are typically sent out in late February and March.) New students begin in August, although we do sometimes enroll children at other times of the year if a space becomes available.
Upon acceptance, a non-refundable registration fee is due to hold a space for a child.
Before the child begins school, a meeting between parents and the classroom guide is scheduled. The child also has the opportunity to meet with the guide before the orientation schedule commences.
All new students are required to attend an orientation that takes place the week before school starts in August. (Children who start MCHS at other times of the year also take part in orientation, and an individual schedule is custom-made for each child.)
In order for the student to attain optimal participation in the Montessori classroom, a child entering MCHS must:
- Be ready to separate from his or her parent successfully;
- Be able to use the toilet independently;
- Be able to follow directions from adults;
- Demonstrate appropriate social skills, such as cooperation, and the ability to communicate with others.

Financial Aid: A limited amount of tuition assistance is available each year,
and awards are based solely on a family's financial need. Tuition assistance is
limited to a maximum potential award equal to one-half of the child’s annual
Montessori classroom tuition. All financial aid requests are processed
through Independent School Management Financial Aid for School Tuition Program
(FAST). In order to apply, click here now. Please be aware
that FAST charges a $36 processing fee, and all applicants will be required to
submit supporting tax documentation before tuition assistance is awarded.
Submitting an application does not guarantee that tuition assistance will be
offered, nor does it guarantee that an applicant will be accepted for admission
into the school. The deadline for applying for the 2012-2013 school year is
January 15, 2012. Award notification will occur prior to March 31, 2012. You may
contact the office for more details.
