Just as each child is unique, each school has aspects that make it distinctive.
Montessori Children's House and School (MCHS) is located on several acres of green, wooded land in the residential Lake Highlands neighborhood, located approximately 10 miles north of downtown Dallas.
The overall feel of the facility is a little bit of country in the heart of the city. Each of the two playground areas include large meadows, giant sandboxes, playhouses and playground equipment specifically designed to develop different aspects of the child’s coordination and motor skills, all in lushly green, shaded outdoor areas.
Each classroom has its own landscaped courtyard. The courtyards are extensions of the classroom, so that children may leave the classroom and work outdoors. The courtyards offer an array of work, as well as the chance to simply enjoy quiet contemplation of nature. The children take an active part in planting and maintaining their class courtyard.
Behind the school lies a nature trail that follows a curving path through local foliage, shrubs and trees.
MCHS is also unique with regard to the commitment of the people who support its existence. We are lucky to count among our staff and our Board of Directors individuals who have been involved with MCHS since its inception over 35 years ago.
